I love life in the early morning - especially this time of year. I stepped out on my porch this morning and heard the geese honking as they flew in formation - one wave after another. I love the sounds of early morning - it is so clear and still that you can hear things you don't the rest of the day - sound really travel in the still of the morning. From my porch I could see the snow covered mountains behind the 20 or so deer in the field. I could hear the cattle mooing, the horses whinny, a cock crowing. Anybody that thinks life is not good is invited to come here and enjoy the early morning with me hot cup of coffee.
In the early morning I not only can hear God's creation at it's best, but I can think more clearly and thus enjoy it to its fullest. My cat, Spivey, seems to love the morning too, she gets right in my face at about 5 a.m. to wake me up so she can go out on the porch with me - she's an early cat like me. Spivey is so anxious for the beauty of the morning that she is like me - gets up way before the sun rises so she doesn't miss it. Even when I was a little boy I got up early and would be an hour early at the school bus stop.
Some of my fondest memories are when I got up early as our family traveled. I remember how enraptured I was with an early morning near the Swannee River - the spanish moss hanging from the oak trees and the sound of the river (a sound that was much quieter than our rushing Montana Rivers) - the sound of egrets, cranes, seagulls, frogs, and, gators saying it's a fine morning.
Enjoy your mornings - it is God showing us HE has created another day - LIFE IS GOOD!
